Few brands have taken over their respective worlds like Fender has with guitars and amplifiers. Still among the most popular brands in the guitar world, Fender continues to innovate and release timeless designs. However, throughout the years one thing has always been true, guitar players love vintage Fender Amps.
With an estimated 300 or less built, the Fender Tremolux 6G9-A is a diamond in the rough. Being a forerunner of the famous Bassman, the Tremolux features a similar layout with two channels, aptly named “Normal” and “Bright.”

If a hand built head from under Leo Fender’s direction wasn’t enough, add in classic tremolo and the original oversized 1x12 cabinet and you get some of the most sought-after tones from the golden age of tube amps.
The circuit provides for stunning cleans synonymous with the name Fender, while also producing the harmonically rich driven sound these early Fender amps have become known for. The Tremolux family marks the first time Fender included an in-amp effect. While tremolo wasn’t a new concept, it was a refreshing new addition for an amp of this caliber.

British Audio was lucky enough to come across this incredible 1961 Tremolux owned by the original purchaser's son who wanted to get it back to perfect shape. As it was almost entirely original, British Audio underwent a full restoration. While maintaining the important tonal components, our technicians rebuilt the amp from the ground up to provide classic tone with modern reliability. After this exhaustive process, the amp is as good as new and built to spec like it would have left the factory in 1961.

After our restoration was complete, we brought the Tremolux into British Audio's state of the art Profile Room. Every effort was made to faithfully reproduce the character of this unique amp down to the voltage the amp was operating at. Vintage amplifiers were built to run off of the lower wall voltage available at the time, so we use a Variac to accurately produce the lower voltages these amps expect. Mic'ed up with a classic combo of ribbon and dynamic microphones, this amp was given the full studio experience.

Plug in to the T-LUX "Clean" channel and hear the clear tones that you can achieve by backing your guitar down and picking lighter or dig in at full volume to get the subtle break up ever these amps are famous for. Driven cleans may sound like an oxymoron but you'll know the sound when you hear it. For a similar feel with a fatter, richer bottom end check out "Clean 2".

For a gritty and more aggressive sound, try out the "Bite" profile. With enhanced presence and a little extra drive, notice your pick attack cut through for blazing lead licks or articulate chords. This is a favorite for everything from rockabilly to chicken-pickin' with a little blues rock in between.

Switch over to the T-LUX "Dimed" profile and you’ll find a whole new world of vintage gain. With every knob turned all the way up, this amp produces a unique drive that inspired countless musicians throughout the years.

These days guitar players love to use old Fender amps as pedal platforms, giving their rig a whole new range of tonal possibilities. The "Driven" profile captures a boutique drive pedal in front of the Tremolux evoking a plexi-like growl. Look no further for classic hard rock tones with a modern twist.

Mostly clean with a little extra edge, the "Dirty" profile can range from smooth to gritty depending on how much you dig in. Perfect for twangy country licks and blues jams alike, this profile delivers dynamics and playability.

The "Western" profile, as the name implies, rustles up tones reminiscent of campfires and cattle drives. With vintage twang and lonesome verb, saddle up and take the sounds of the old spaghetti westerns on a ride. Giddeup!

With a fat and articulate doubled sound, the "Funky" profile is ready to boogie. While thick and compressed, this profile has enough clean headroom and definition to let out fast muted notes as well as spanky chords. Put on your dancing shoes and enter the world of disco, funk, and James Brown.

The "Textured" profile produces a subtle twang paired with rich, layered time-based effects. Bring your favorite ballads to life and evoke images of slow nights nursing Tennessee Whiskey in a Nashville honky tonk. Bring a little bit of Broadway anywhere with this players' favorite

"Saggy" will make soft notes sing and back them up with open effects for an exciting ambient experience. Capturing the feel of a browned out tube amplifier starved for voltage, notice how the subtle compression offers a uniquely playable feel with a distinctive sound.
