Before the days of pulling out your phone or jumping on your computer to see the new line of guitars your favorite brand just released or the new amp just put out on the market, many will remember the best way to see new gear was to go to the local music store. If you weren’t lucky enough to have a music store close by, the next best thing was the famed Sears Catalog. The memory of flipping past all the appliances, furniture and clothing to get to the instrument and electronics section is still a fond one to many.

Having been affordable, many of these Silvertone amps have fallen into disrepair from garage bands or home players using them until they could afford something new or the next line came along. British Audio, specializing in the restoration of vintage amplifiers, came across this 1485 in need of a full service. While most of the original circuitry was still intact, many old components like the paper electrolytic capacitors had failed over the years. The technicians at British Audio took this job to replace all the electrolytic capacitors as well as any other components that had failed or drifted from factory specifications. 

The original cabinet was in excellent condition considering its age. All six of the original Jensen speakers were working perfectly which gave us here at British Audio the most accurate representation as to what this amp sounded like new from the catalog. This made the profiling process all the more exciting to precisely capture this amp's tonal range.

Many notable guitar players have pushed their Silvertones far past what the original engineers intended. These new sounds inspired a whole new generation of garage rock. Now, the days of the catalog may be long gone but the impact from some of the items have still left quite the mark on the music world. A perfect example of this is the Silvertone line. Silvertone was well known for bridging the gap between affordable yet playable instruments without sacrificing a unique character known around the Silvertone brand. The Bridged profile offers thicker low end by utilizing both channels known as "bridging the inputs."
