VICTORY V10 ‘The Baron’ All Valve 10 Watt Guitar Combo

$1,699.99

The Victory V10 (aka "The Baron") is a great combo and encapsulates Victory in a single, flagship 1x12" Combo model. Built to the most exacting specifications by people who CARE about tone, the V10 Baron's Solid Pine cabinet and Celestion Creamback speaker translate the magic inside the amp into phenomenal British tone!

Specifications

  • Format: 10W, all valve, single channel guitar combo with reverb.
  • Power Amp Valves: 1 x 6L6*, 1 x EL84.
  • Preamp Valves: 3 x 12AX7/12AT7/12AU7*
  • Reverb Drive and Return: 1 x 12AT7.
  • Transformers: Custom wound and designed in-house.
  • Construction Methods: All power supply and switching circuitry is PCB mounted. All circuitry directly relating to valves is hand-wired on 3mm turret board or point to point on the valve bases themselves.
  • Controls: Gain, Gain Boost Toggle Switch, Reverb, Bass, Middle, Treble, Noval Master Volume, Octal Master Volume. Front Panel Mains/Standby switch.
  • Rear Panel: Fused mains inlet, Speaker Sockets: 1 x 8 ohm and 2 x 4 ohm, Footswitch Socket, Octal valve, Noval Valve, 4 x Dual Triode Valve.

Features

  • Gain Boost switching between clean and overdriven sounds, which can be accessed via a control panel toggle switch or footswitch.
  • Reverb
  • Effects Loop

*All of the valves in the preamp are dual triodes and are interchangeable with dual triodes of different types, for example: 12AT7, 12AU7, 12DW7, 12AY7, 12AX7 etc. This enables quite a large number of gain structure combinations to be experimented with, without the need for circuit modification.

The octal output valve can be experimented with, too. Although supplied with a 6L6 a 6V6, EL34, KT77, in fact almost any octal valve with the same pin configuration as the 6L6 can be plugged into the octal socket. As the output valves in the V10 are cathode biased, they can be changed without any need for bias adjustment. Careful note should be made, however, that valves associated with higher output powers will not necessarily produce these results in the V10, as the high voltage and extra drive signal required for this are not incorporated into the V10’s circuitry: changing the octal valves, as with changing the preamp valves will result in the V10 feeling different and having a different tonal response.

Have fun experimenting with other output tubes...
Click here to visit the PM Replacement Valve section of our website & look for 6L6, EL34 or 6V6 tubes. Changing the tubes is easy & the Baron will automatically re-bias itself to match to the new new you insert.
As a guide, the 6L6 gives a little more clean headroom, bass response & sparkle (don't forget, the 6L6 is what the baron comes with as standard). An EL34 is more punchy in the mid range & is typical in classic British rock amps. The 6V6 is a lower output tube commonly used in smaller Fender tube amps. Have fun experimenting!

Can I gig with a Baron V10?
We've been asked that by a couple of customers, and of course the answer is "depends on the gig". To try & be a bit more scientific about it, we asked the Victory R&D guys to measure the volume of the amp using a db meter - this was their reply...

We’ve had a chance to do some measurements.
We tested 3 V10s with the tone controls at 12 o’clock, the Octal & Noval levels at Max and the Gain at Max. Each was measured with a guitar signal and a music signal and they all consistently produce around 112dB @ 1meter maximum.

Using math, the max SPL is (10(log LSMax Input Power)) + LS
rating = 10log ((12.5x12.5) / 8) + 100 = 12.9 + 100 = 112.9dB

So looks like our measurements & the theoretical max are pretty similar and I’m confident the results are accurate.

So, does that help? Probably not, but we're pretty sure that for a small pub gig, with a blues trio of something, the V10 is likely to hold its own, but to be on the safe side, we'd recommend micing it up.

Victory launched V10 The Baron in 2013 among our first range of all-valve Hand Wired Series guitar amplifiers.

The Baron uses a combination of one 6L6 and one EL84 output valve that you can mix to taste courtesy of separate master volume controls. By dialling in your desired amount of preamp gain there is a huge range of clean and overdrive textures available, all in a manageable 10-watt, 1x12 format. Make no mistake though, these 10 watts will happily perform loud and proud on stages for crunchy and gain tones.

There is an additional footswitchable gain boost, spring reverb and a series effects loop, all housed in a solid pine cabinet.

These are the last few ever built and when they're gone… they're gone! Snap up a wonderfully versatile, truly hand-wired combo that will give you decades of wonderful tones.

Please note: all amps sold here benefit from our 5 Year Warranty, in the unlikely event you should ever need it.
